benbrown: Dear Internet, I just fixed a broken script that was hiding half of the Über.nu archives from view. Now, the full 1,000 article archive is available to peruse as if it was 2002 again. Über published almost daily from 2000 to 2005, before most people knew that the internet was designed to waste time.

sippey: But I don’t think that competition is what’s driving them. Instead, I have a feeling they’re working with Mountain Lion to fulfill user expectations that they’re setting with their mobile platform. This is the critical part of Apple’s success over the past decade: making things just work. The experience people had with iPods, and now iPhones, is so vastly different from the...

dakotasmith: man your new version of aim is really chatty about it!
Adam Mathes: is it?
dakotasmith: adammathes is using a new version of AIM that stores conversation history so they can see their chats wherever they're signed into AIM (desktop, mobile, aim.com). If you don't want your messages stored, you can ask adammathes to take the conversation "off the record" or use the new AIM so you can do so yourself. Visit preview.aim.com/.faq for more information.
Adam Mathes: i tried and turned it off
dakotasmith: yes.
Adam Mathes: whoa
dakotasmith: i know!
Adam Mathes: how do i opt out of that?
Adam Mathes: geez
Adam Mathes: lovely

Even though true love requires things like self-examination and a willingness to deal with...

But if you were to, by luck, find such a person — if you hired them, then #1 kicks in. Because the guy who can turn it around isn’t good at fighting internal BigCo political battles. He or she has no patience for it, and it’s not what they do well. It’s very easy for the Gundotra’s or Horowitz’s (who are the best at BigCo politics) to push them aside as...
